About the University

Taiyuan Normal University (TYNU) is a full-time general higher education institution focusing on the cultivation of undergraduate and postgraduate talents in normal education, with the coordinated development of normal and non-normal education. Approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in March 1999, it was formed by the merger of the Normal College of Shanxi University, Taiyuan Teachers College and Shanxi Institute of Education.

The university offers undergraduate programs covering nine academic disciplines, namely Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Management and Art, and currently has 21 master's degree authorization programs including Chinese Language and Literature, Art Studies, and Geography.

TYNU has established friendly cooperative relations with 34 universities in 17 countries around the world, and signed cooperation agreements with the University at Albany, State University of New York (USA), Aston University (UK), Brandon University (Canada), Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany), the University of Adelaide (Australia) and other renowned institutions. It has successively sent students to study at the University at Albany, State University of New York, Florence National Academy of Fine Arts (Italy) and other universities for exchange programs.

The university has invited more than 100 renowned domestic and foreign experts and scholars to give lectures, and selected over 100 outstanding teachers to visit and study at prestigious domestic and foreign universities and research institutes or conduct academic exchanges. Since 2019, TYNU has enrolled international students, mainly providing Chinese language training programs.

学校简介

太原师范学院是一所全日制普通高等师范院校，以师范类本、研究生人才培养为核心，同步推动师范与非师范专业协调发展。1999 年 3 月经教育部批准，学校由原山西大学师范学院、太原师范专科学校、山西省教育学院合并组建而成。

学校开设经济学、法学、教育学、文学、历史学、理学、工学、管理学、艺术学九大学科门类的本科专业，拥有中国语言文学、艺术学、地理学等 21 个硕士学位授权点。

学校与全球 17 个国家的 34 所高校建立友好合作关系，与美国纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校、英国阿斯顿大学、加拿大布兰登大学、德国马格德堡大学、澳大利亚阿德莱德大学等知名院校签署合作协议，选派学生赴美国纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校、意大利佛罗伦萨国立美术学院等高校开展交换学习。

学校先后邀请 100 余名国内外知名专家学者讲学，选派 100 余名优秀教师赴国内外知名高校、科研机构访学交流或开展学术交流。自 2019 年起招收国际学生，核心开展中国语言培训项目。

Eligibility Requirements

Basic Requirements

Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, with no history of major physical or mental illnesses and no infectious diseases; they must hold complete pre-qualification academic credentials and have relevant work experience (if applicable). Applicants shall have good conduct with no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of China as well as the university's rules and regulations, and respect China's history, culture and public morality.

基本要求

申请人身心健康，无重大躯体或精神疾病史，无传染病；需持有完整的前置学历证明，可根据情况提供相关工作经历。申请人品行端正，无犯罪记录，遵守中国法律法规及学校规章制度，尊重中国历史、文化与社会公德。

Identity and Nationality Requirements

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport.

Admission Categories and Requirements

Academic Qualification and Age Requirements

Degree students: Master's Candidates need to hold a bachelor's degree (with undergraduate graduation certificate and bachelor's degree certificate), aged 18-30 years old. Available majors include Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics, Geography, Art Studies, International Chinese Education, Materials and Chemical Engineering, etc.Non-degree students: Chinese Language Trainees need to hold a senior high school graduation certificate, aged 18-25 years old. Available major is Chinese Language.

学历资格与年龄要求

学位生：硕士研究生需持有本科毕业证书及学位证书，年龄 18-30 周岁。可报考专业包括中国语言文学、数学、地理学、艺术学、国际中文教育、材料与化学工程等。非学位生：汉语进修生需持有高中毕业证书，年龄 18-25 周岁。可报考专业为汉语。

GPA and Language Proficiency Requirements for Admission

Degree students (Master's Candidates): GPA 2.5/4.0, teaching mode is Chinese-English Bilingual, language proficiency requirements are IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL 60 / HSK Level 5 Certificate.Non-degree students (Chinese Language Trainees): GPA N/A, teaching mode is Chinese-English Bilingual, language proficiency requirements are Valid English or Chinese Proficiency Certificate.

录取 GPA 及语言能力要求

学位生（硕士研究生）：GPA 不低于 2.5/4.0，中英双语授课，语言能力需达到雅思 6.0、托福 60 或 HSK 五级证书。非学位生（汉语进修生）：GPA 不适用，中英双语授课，需提供有效英语或中文能力证明。

Application Fee

An application fee of 500 RMB per person (including necessary admission assessment fees) is charged. The fee must be paid before submitting the application documents and is non-refundable.

Additional Notes on Fees and Physical Examination

1. In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education, international students must purchase medical insurance during their study in China. Short-term international students studying in China for less than 3 months may be exempted from group medical insurance if they can provide a valid proof of purchased medical insurance. The university will not complete the registration procedure for students who fail to purchase the required medical insurance. Applicants who conceal a history of major illnesses from their previous academic stage resulting in inability to purchase medical insurance will have their admission qualifications cancelled once discovered.
2. In accordance with the regulations of relevant domestic institutions, international students must undergo a physical examination upon enrollment. The specific fee standard shall be subject to the official announcement of Shanxi International Travel Healthcare Center. Only those who meet both the physical examination standards for residence permits set by the Exit-Entry Administration of Shanxi Province and the admission requirements of our university can complete the registration and enrollment procedures.

费用及体检补充说明

1. 根据教育部规定，国际学生在校学习期间必须购买医疗保险。在中国短期学习（少于 3 个月）的学生若能提供已购买医疗保险的有效证明，可豁免团体医保。未按要求购买医保者，学校不予办理注册手续。若申请人在之前的学历阶段隐瞒重大疾病史，导致无法购买医保，一经发现将被取消录取资格。
2. 根据国内相关规定，国际学生入学时必须参加体检。具体收费标准以山西国际旅行卫生保健中心官方公告为准。只有同时符合山西省出入境管理局的居留许可体检标准及我校录取要求者，方可办理注册入学手续。

Scholarship Opportunities

International students at Taiyuan Normal University can apply for the Shanxi Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Shanxi and the Taiyuan Normal University Scholarship for International Students.

Scholarships cover one or more of the following expenses: tuition fees, living expenses, medical insurance premiums and basic textbook fees. Scholarships are available for applicants of all levels, including degree and non-degree students.

International students approved for scholarship funding must participate in the annual scholarship assessment. Those who pass the assessment are eligible to continue receiving the scholarship for the next academic year.

The university offers direct tuition and accommodation fee reductions through scholarships. After exemption and reduction, language students only need to pay 5,000 RMB per year for tuition and 1,000 RMB per year for accommodation. Postgraduate students only need to pay 2,000 RMB per year for accommodation and will receive an additional monthly scholarship of 1,000 RMB for 10 months each year.

奖学金机会

太原师范学院国际学生可申请山西省外国留学生政府奖学金及太原师范大学国际学生奖学金。

奖学金可涵盖学费、生活费、医疗保险费及基础教材费中的一项或多项，各层次学生（含学位生、非学位生）均可申请。

获得奖学金资助的国际学生须参加年度奖学金考核，考核通过者可在下一学年继续享受奖学金。

学校通过奖学金项目提供直接的学费及住宿费减免：减免后，语言进修生每年仅需缴纳学费 5000 元人民币、住宿费 1000 元人民币；研究生每年仅需缴纳住宿费 2000 元人民币，并每年额外获得 10 个月的月度奖学金 1000 元人民币。
